I actually drew the full images of the Horokkos in the first panel for the draft as I had no idea how they would break apart. Looking back, it felt like a waste to have them completely black (or have the bits that fly off blackened as well to complete the effect).

When needed, it seems like these small fry are also capable of moving at high speeds and are not limited by their stubby 'legs' for movement (as evident in the Ocean Tower tutorial part of the game). I thought I might as well play with this to show that even the most basic of enemies are still a threat of sorts to anyone poorly equipped.
