The Kattelox Island Police is the official government-owned police organization. Formally known as the "Kattelox Police Department" (KPD), they are effectively military police and Kattelox Island's sole means of defense against outside threats (such as Air Pirates) and civil law enforcement involving crime fighting and overall peacekeeping. The Kattelox Police also coordinate with its local main hospital to handle safety and rescue procedures across the island.

Recruitment & Training
Because of the island's stance on its autonomy from the outside, police recruitment is an important part of strengthening their forces allowing the peace and livelihood of Kattelox Island to be upheld. Though interested residents of the island may submit applications year-round, active recruitment drives that take place quarterly allow island residents to not only speak with representatives of the force, but also allow the public to understand more about the police and their role in Kattelox City.

Recruitment applicants are given a simple physical and mental apitude test to determine if they are fit for duty. Successful applicants are then given basic training which covers handling of KTOX police-standard equipment including firearms and the side-handled baton for close quarters. Upon completion, they will become qualified members of the Kattelox police force. Additional specialist training may be provided for those who perform exceptionally well in certain aspects of basic training, which will be reflected as part of their rank. On-field training usually takes place in the form of one-to-one senior-junior pairings, allowing new recruits to understand the police's inner workings and gain experience quickly.

Though not strictly enforced due to continuous shortages, typical requirements for application include being of the island's adult age (16), completing basic education, and certain levels of physical fitness. Though there are no gender restrictions, female officers are less common due to riguous physical requirements.

Skills & Abilities
Through training, Kattelox Officers are typically skilled fighters in both close and ranged combat. Though an officer's typical routine of duties does not involve much action due to the generally peaceful nature of Kattelox City, their training allows them to respond quickly to perceived threats to the island and its civilians.

While their individual strengths are weak in comparison to large singular threats such as typical Air Pirates, their ability to coordinate and work in squads more than make up for this shortcoming.

As part of their daily patrol and for emergencies, officers are generally capable drivers of ground vehicles such as the standard patrol car.

Public Relations
As the primary form of protection from outside threats and tasked with general peacekeeping of the island's population, the civilians' overall view of the existing police force is positive and friendly despite the authority gap heightened by being part of the Kattelox Government. The authority's friendly relations is partly due to Kattelox City's mayor's strong views on vigilance and cooperation between both figures of authority and the common civilians, thus achieving a strong view on Kattelox Island's autonomy and lack of reliance from outside civilization. Such views have also indirectly formed a culture and strong virtue of respectable heroism and selflessness among the public.

On the flip side, the strong enforcement of simple cultural norms within the island have created rifts among those who do not share the same views of the general public, resulting in stubborn rebellion especially among certain youth circles. In addition to the strong negative views of outsiders from a long history of conflict, officers have also been observed to have acted in hostility against outsiders regardless of actual intentions; one example being the Casquet family's emergency landing which was initially treated as an invasion before the Inspector acted as the voice of reason and ordered the on-site officers to stand down.

Weapons & Equipment
Upon recruitment, Kattelox Officers are given a standard uniform according to their size requirements. The standard uniform's coat and pants are designed for durability and resistance against erosion; as a whole, it provide officers with the proper appearance that upholds the law of Kattelox Island. The standard uniform consists of the following:
  • Coat
  • Muffler (doubles as face mask)
  • Dark Shirt (worn underneath coat, seasonal variations avaialble)
  • Pants
  • Reinforced Boots
  • Utility Belt Harness
  • Handgun
  • Patrol Tonfa Baton
  • Officer's Badge (affixed visibly on left collar of coat, from wearer's POV)

Active field officers of rank Sergeant or higher are granted access to more equipment, including more advanced body armor and improved firearms.

Notable KTOX Officers
  • Inspector
  • Officer Bill R.
  • Officer Lance B.
  • Sgt. L.S. Kennedy

Author Notes
In order to downplay the more predictable one-hero army idea portrayed in the games, the police in general are given a larger direct combat role in RMDL. This has given them a new saving grace: the ability to perform feats that Rock cannot accomplish thanks to their coordination and numbers that make up for their limited individual abilities.

One of the aims of RMDL is to explore how both the police and Rock interact with each other, now more possible thanks to the cops' small but noticable upgrade to being able to do some damage.

The advanced body armor is directly based on the SWAT Uniform (most famously worn by Leon) in the BioHazard (Resident Evil) series. The sergeant first shown wearing this in Chapter 4 is also based on main character Leon who made his first appearance in the second game.
